Starting services
Before using water and sewage services, please contact the Gifu City Water and Sewage Utility Fee Center.
Cancelling services
If you move or return to your home country and want to cancel these services, contact the Water and Sewage Utility Fee Center as soon as possible and they will calculate the remaining amount that you owe.
Billing and payment
Water and sewage services will be billed together every two months.
Payment methods
- By payment slips
These can be paid at financial institutions, convenience stores, etc.
You can also use mobile payment services (PayB, Line Pay, PayPay, au PAY) and the camera on your smartphone to read the barcode and pay through the app. - Through automatic bank withdrawals
You will need to complete the processes to do this at a financial institution.
Recurring credit card payments
This is a method in which you register your credit card information in advance to enable recurring payments.

If you fail to pay your sewage fee by the designated payment date (納期限), you will be charged an additional late fee.
This is to be fair to those that make their payments on time.

Please contact the closest designated repair business
When you become unable to use any water
- If water lines are disconnected due to construction, etc.
You will be informed of this happening beforehand in Koho Gifu, through a flyer posted in your neighborhood, etc. You should then store enough water to get you through the period that your water will be disconnected if necessary. - If your water lines get damaged
The city will give you further information as soon as possible after the damage is discovered. - For cases other than those listed above, it's possible there may be an issue with your water supply equipment, and you should contact your closest designated repair business if you suspect this.
If your water lines have frozen
If your water lines freeze, wrap towels around the frozen sections and pour lukewarm water over them.
If your water lines burst
If your water lines burst, turn off the valve in your meter box and contact your nearest designated repair business.
Properly maintaining sewage lines
- Do NOT flush anything down the toilet besides toilet paper (tissues, paper diapers, applicable female hygeniene products, etc.).
- Do NOT wash any oils down the drain. Wipe off oil from every dish before washing them.
- If dealing with oils at your business, make sure to clean your grease trap every day and clean the basket/remove the oil from it at least once a week. Perform suction cleaning of the bottom of the grease trap at least once a month.
If your waste water is not flowing properly
You probably have a clog in one of your sewer lines, and you should contact Gifu City's Water and Sewage Department to examine them.

If your sewer pipe connected to the road gets clogged
If your sewer pipe connected to the road gets clogged, you should contact Gifu City Hall's Water and Sewage Department to examine it.
However, if the reason for the clog is found to be caused by something other than toilet paper (tissues, paper diapers, applicable female hygiene products, etc.), you will have to pay for the repair fees.

If a drainage pipe in your home (toilet, sink, etc.) gets clogged, please call a designated sewage equipment repair company in Gifu City.
