Gifu City provides various welfare services for its elderly citizens.

Farming plots for the elderly

Those 60 years old or older can rent a farming plot among 528 plots spread out in 12 different locations for a fee.

Out of insurance acupuncture/massage subsidy voucher

If you use the above voucher, you can receive acupunture or a massage for 1/3 the normal cost.
(You will have to pay ¥1400)

Those eligible (income restrictions apply)

  • Those age 70 or older
  • Those under age 70 that have a level 1 or 2 physical disability certificate.

*Those eligible can receive six vouchers over a one year period.

Senior citizens' bus cards

Those 70 years old or older can apply to receive an IC card with ¥3000 included and a 20% discount that can be used regardless of the time of day.

Silver cards

Citizens age 70 or older can use this card to use municipal cultural, sports, and recreational facilities for free or at a reduced price.

90th Birthday Gift Program

The city will give a congratulatory gift to those who turned 90 years old.

Food delivery safety confirmations

Food is delivered to those aged 65 or older that live alone or in a household whose members are all aged 65 or older and have difficulties cooking. This also serves as a way to periodically confirm their safety.

Ai no Hitokoe Project

Homes visits are conducted for those that are 65 or older and live by themselves to make sure they are doing ok.

Safety confirmation service

For households consisting of only elderly people aged 65 or older, including those living alone/bedridden, they can have sensors installed in their home to monitor them on a daily basis (income requirements apply).

Emergency report system

An emergency alert system connected to a contractor commissioned by the city can be installed for elderly people aged 65 and over who live alone or households with only elderly people, including bedridden elderly people, for those that have a chronic illness and can suddenly experience life-threatening symptoms.

Short-term accommodation services

These services are available for those 65 and older that have been designated as not needing long-term care. It provides them with short-term accomodations so they can recuperate while they are not feeling well (despite not having an illness).

Mitahora Shinbutsu Onsen
