Minna no Mori Gifu Media Cosmos

Media Cosmos is a cultural complex facility containing the Gifu City Chuo Library, the Community Activity Exchange Center, the Multicultural Plaza, the Exhibit Gallery, etc.

Chuo Library, Branch Library, library rooms

Anyone can use the Chuo and Branch Libraries as well as the library rooms.
You will need a library card to rent books, etc.

Renting books

You will need to get a library card first.

  • Those eligible to receive a library card
    • People living in Gifu Prefecture
    • People working in Gifu City
    • Students commuting to a school in Gifu City
  • Please present a document that proves your name and address.
    Examples include a residence card, driver's license, etc.
  • When renting materials
    Please bring your library card and the materials you would like to rent to the service counter. You can also use an automatic checkout machine.
  • Amounts you can borrow
    • Books, etc.　Up to 10
    • DVD's and CD's　Up to 3, counted separately from the above materials
  • Rental period　All materials must be returned within 15 days

Returning books

Return books, DVD's, etc. at a service counter.
Return books, etc. through a return chute*

*You cannot return DVD's and CD's through a return chute.

If you have lost, damaged, or dirtied a book

  • If you have lost any materials, please contact the library you rented them from and let them know.
  • If materials you have rented become damaged or dirty, please bring them as they are to the library.
  • You can also buy the same book in similar condition that you rented it in and return that copy instead

*Please return all materials by their return dates

*Books and other materials at libraries are for everyone to use, so please take good care of them.

E-library

  1. Click the button on the bottom of the Gifu libraries page called, "岐阜市電子図書館". You can change the language to English by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking English.
  2. Click "Sign in", and then enter your library card number and password (your initial password is your date of birth (YYYY/MM/DD)).
  3. Click the "borrow" option for any materials you would like to rent.
    • Those eligible to rent materials
      • People living in Gifu City
      • People working in Gifu City
      • People commuting to a school in Gifu City
    • When renting for the first time
      Please come to one of the libraries to create a library card. You will need a document that proves your name and address, such as a residence card, driver's license, etc.

  4. Digital materials will automatically returned when their rental period expires.
